Historical note

The fifth IOV World Congress on Folk Culture took place in Ulan-Ude, Buryatia, from 20 to 23 September 2012. It formed part of a wider Sounds of Eurasia festival programme running from 18 to 23 September.

The recorded subject was musical creativity as a factor in the development of intercultural dialogue. The current online index and local institutional records preserve that programme framing, but full proceedings have not been located online.

The archived IOV programme places the opening at the Buryat State Opera and Ballet Theatre, research sections on 21 September, the closing at the State Russian Drama Theatre and a final Lake Baikal excursion. It also announced masterclasses and exchange around traditional instruments.
