Historical note
This edition of the IOV European Scientific Conference met in Mauterndorf, Austria in 1996 (official records differ: April or 5–8 June). Its published theme was “Condition of folk culture on the threshold of the third millennium.”
IOV’s retrospective presents the European conference series as a forum for researchers from different parts of Europe to study both shared cultural patterns and cultural specificity.
