The folk group “Mainatges” of Montreal is the oldest of the Aude. This ensemble celebrated 40 years in July 2015. The group is made up of 5 musicians and more than 40 adult dancers who, dressed in their costumes of various aspects and colours, bring to life the Audoise traditions. A group of children between the ages of 6 and 12 years old will take over the work of these elders and will also be able to defend the popular traditions. The “Maïnatges” dance for love “dal Païs”; this rare and generous group holds the Occitan tradition, musical tradition, choreography and clothing. The show is cheerful, varied and authentic. The dancers are accompanied by an orchestra composed of diatonic accordions, the flute, the drum, and the “graïle” (a wind instrument from Languedoc, France), resembling a primitive oboe. (It is played in the Monts de Lacaune and surrounding areas)
