SECRETS OF NATURAL MATERIALS
LIUDMYLA KOBYCHEVA
The artist was born in 1946 in a creative family. After graduating from Kyiv State
University, she worked as a lawyer, including teaching at the University of Aden
(South Yemen).
But she was able to realize her creative potential only after her retirement, having
received a profession – an interior designer. She received her first creative
instructions from Tatyana Yablonskaya, who drew attention to Lyudmila 's
extraordinary sense of colour, a special vision of images in space.
She gave a kind of landmark to which the artist went all her life. During her
studies, she became interested in collages and for 20 years she has embodied more
then 500 works, none of which is repeated.
The artist has followers, students with whom she shared the secrets of
craftsmanship. The works of Liudmyla Kobycheva were presented at 30
exhibitions, both group and personal.
Currently, more than 30 works made in the European collage technique using
mixed media and natural materials can be presented over 20 years (2001-2021). A
number of works are made in the author's technique.
A feature of Liudmyla Kobycheva 's collages is the use of transparent fabrics as a
basis. Such works take on the colour of the surface on which they are located and
organically fit into the space. And despite the fact that sometimes rough, massive
materials (leather, stones, natural materials) are superimposed on top, visually the
work turns out to be light, as if hanging in the air, there is a stereo effect.
The creative achievements of the author include: works made of leather and semi-
precious stones; three-dimensional collage (author's technique) "Web"; a series of
works from various fabrics; a series of works from natural materials "Fish and the
water element"; a series of mixed media works; a series of works using point
technique, etc. The lion's share of plots is the author's. But there are works based
on brilliant artists.
The author is a developer of new techniques that are different from the well-known
ones, so her work has found fans in 16 countries: Holland, France, Germany, Italy,
USA, Canada, India, UAE, Poland, Romania, Belarus, Russia, Hungary, Israel,
Turkey, Ukraine .
Information about the creative heritage of Liudmyla Kobycheva is published in the
Encyclopedia of Modern Ukraine (Kyiv 2013. Volume 13).
