49 cities have joined the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) following their designation by UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay.
Since 2004, the creative potential of the members of the network is determined by seven themes: art and crafts, folk art, design, cinema, gastronomy, literature, media and music.
The Network now numbers 295 cities reaching 90 countries that invest in culture and creativity – crafts and folk art, design, film, gastronomy, literature, media arts, and music – to advance sustainable urban development.
On the occasion of World Cities Day 2021, the City of Lankaran, Azerbaijan was included in the list of creative cities on the theme of “Gastronomy” by the UNESCO Cities Platform. This is the third city on the list of creative cities in Azerbaijan. The city of Lankaran ranks 3rd in the list in terms of gastronomy.
On this glorious path, the First Vice-President of Azerbaijan, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO Mehriban Aliyeva, all institutions and organizations responsible for cultural and propaganda policy in our country, including the Azerbaijan National Culinary Center and the Azerbaijan National Culinary Association has been a great effort.
A letter to UNESCO and the UNO was sent by the Azerbaijan National Culinary Association. The ANCC and ANCA have been creating brands for many years and have been quietly working in this direction. And we finally reached our goal.
Congratulations Azerbaijan!
