The Zampognaro Lagaro Association was founded by our President, Attilio Gasperotti, as the natural evolution of his personal paths in the world of folk music and dance.
The association is composed by experienced folk musicians, dancers, folk dance teachers and young people who trained both as musicians and dancers. That’s the origin of this unitary project focused on the culture of folk dances in the Province of Trento.
The project began to take form in 2007, during a trip to Hungary, on the Balaton lake.
The experience was repeated in the following years (2010-2012), when the group brought to the Hungarian Festival a repertoire of international dances first, then Italian dances, and finally dances from both Italy and Trentino. The same program was proposed in Bosnia at the International Festival in Banja Luka and in Serbia.
In 2013 we took part in the Parade of the Columbus Day in New Jersey, USA.
In 2014 we were in Portugal and Hungary. In August 2014 we were invited to the Egadi Islands, in Sicily. In June 2015 we participated in the International Festival in Indonesia, in Tenggarong, in the Kutai region, Borneo. In October 2015 we were guests in another Festival in Kabardino Balkaria, Russia. In 2016 Festival in Cacaplava do Sul in Brasil.
In 2017 the group took part to the Festivals in Barranca – Peru, IGF Caravan in Spain, International Festival in Galliate – Italy and Festa Mariolles in France.
On the 7th November 2015, our President received an award at the Vatican: that’s the Giuseppe Sciacca Award for the promotion and dissemination of popular traditions.
We also want to stress the fact that most of the artists are both musicians and dancers, and in some cases are even able to exchange their roles.
