Every great journey begins with a single moment of inspiration.
For me, the story of the Sri Lanka International Cultural Folk Festival (SICFF) began many years ago, long before it had a name, a stage, or an audience. It started with a simple yet powerful dream: to create a space where culture could speak louder than borders, and where dance could unite people from every corner of the world.
Growing up in Sri Lanka, the vibrant rhythms of traditional drums surrounded me, the colours of ancient rituals, and the spirit of communities celebrating who they are. I saw how culture could bring people together—how a song or a dance could create joy, pride, and identity. But I also saw something else: many talented performers had limited opportunities to shine beyond their local communities. Their stories, their art, and their heritage deserved a global audience.
It was this realisation that planted the first seed of SICFF.
