Folklorní spolek Lipta Liptál (until 2015 Folklorní sdružení Lipta Liptál, formerly Lipta Wallachian Song and Dance Group) is the oldest ensemble in Wallachia.
Its history has been written since 1930. At that time, the academic painter Jan Kobzáň took part in its founding, whose book “O zbojních a pokladoch” became the inspiration mainly for the male solo dance “Zbojnický”, which the ensemble still has in its repertoire.
Lipta currently has over 90 members in six groups: Malí ogari , Malůšata , Malá Lipta , Lipta – foundation , Lipta – Seniors and the female choir Rokytenka.
Lipta performs authentic folklore and performs dozens of performances at home and abroad every year. The ensemble is the main organizer of the International Folklore Festival Liptál Festival, which has been held in Liptál since 1970 regularly on the last weekend in August.
The troupe also organizes the Children’s Folklore Day at the beginning of June – the first year took place in 1987. A very popular event is the Santa Claus ride when Santa Claus and his wonderful devilish entourage go around Liptál on a horse-drawn wagon and bring Santa gifts to the children.
Last year it was already the 23rd run. However, the Valašský ball in Liptál has the longest tradition of all the events organized by the ensemble – in February 2022, the 78th year was held !!!
