Harvest and Folklore Festival:
Every year during the last weekend in the month of July, the Faluintjesstreek – alternately in the Aalstern boroughs of Baardegem, Herdersem, Meldert and Moorsel – hosts a harvest festival called ‘de Pikkeling’.
The most important facets here are traditional dance and music from various countries, international folklore, field activities and regional gastronomy.
The VVV De Faluintjesstreek organisation counts thousands of interested parties.
This harvest festival pays tribute to the joy of the harvest. The characteristic Flemish harvest scenes are faithfully demonstrated. Typical regional dishes are promoted and ample attention is paid to international folklore.
