From July 28th to August 2nd, 2026, the charming city of Nova Petrópolis, in the Serra Gaúcha region, will host the III IOV Assembly of the Americas, as part of the Nova Petrópolis International Folklore Festival program.
The event marks 15 years of partnership between IOV Brazil and the International Folklore Festival, celebrating a history of cooperation, culture, and friendship among peoples.
Following the success of the I Assembly, held in São José de Ribamar/MA (2019), and the II Assembly, in Ijuí/RS, it is Nova Petrópolis’ turn to host this important meeting, which will bring together delegations from more than 30 countries in the Americas, promoting cultural exchange and strengthening popular arts in our continent.
The IOV – International Organization of Popular Art, a UNESCO advisory body, operates in more than 150 countries and its mission is to preserve, disseminate and value folklore and popular arts as a science and heritage of humanity.
IOV Brazil and the Municipality of Nova Petrópolis welcome everyone with open arms for another historic chapter in the living culture of the peoples of the Americas!
