The Twentsche Folkloristische Dancegroup “De Schaddenrieders” was founded at 1 November 1946. The association’s objective is to keep our traditions with dance and history alive. The name “De Schaddenrieders” derives the association from the workers who used to bring heath flags to the farms and put them in a row in the area where the cattle wintered. The moors are the damaged ones and the laying in a row is the rowing. The clothing the members wear dates from the years 1880 – 1910. Dances in the rehearsal are for example the Valeta, Kruispolka – Almelosche fair. We perform with our dances at home and abroad. We have participated in various folkloric festivals abroad. The dance group also honours the egg fathers every year with the palm Easter parade closing on palm Sunday, with the palm Easter parade being offered to the children’s section of the MST.
