The Pro Loco of Uta organises an international folklore festival called “BALLUS – International Folklore Meeting,” which was conceived in 2001 by Romano Massa, president of the local Pro Loco and the festival’s artistic director.
One of Sardinia’s most popular international folklore events, Ballus welcomes numerous groups from all over the world every year, who share their customs, traditions, dances, and music.
Aimed at promoting mutual understanding between different cultures, the preservation of cultural roots, the acceptance of diversity, and a policy of peace among all peoples. Another objective of the event is to stimulate and enhance the local economy, including its monuments, artistic and historical heritage (Santuario di Santa Maria), tourism, crafts, and agri-food sectors.
