Plan IOV 2020 is an action plan spanning four years; adopted at the most recent IOV General Assembly held in Bergamo, Italy. The event took place in November of 2016.
Plan IOV 2020 aims to institutionalize standards and practices that will establish IOV as a professional global organization. IOVs board members are volunteers.
Plan IOV 2020 mandates the creation of five core commissions and six IOV Regions worldwide.
The five core commissions include:
- Festivals and Practices Commission;
- Science, Research, and Finance Commission;
- Communication and Publications Commission;
- IOV Youth Commission; and
- Special Projects Commission.
Commission members shall meet regularly, either in person or through online conferences. On the internet, members and visitors will be updated as regards the commission’s progress of their operations. The Commission Chairs are member of the IOV Board of Directors and shall establish and provide support to their own sub-commissions—with the aim of spreading the IOV mission.
IOV has 6 regions worldwide. These regions correspond to the regions established by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). A Regional Executive Director (RED) shall be assigned to each region; and all REDs are member of the IOV Board of Directors. The REDs shall establish and provide support to their own sub-regions and national sections—with the aim of spreading the IOV mission.
